Paul Deemer is a first call musician in Austin, Texas and plays trombone, drums, keyboard, and trumpet locally and abroad. He is currently playing and touring with The Polyphonic Spree, Calexico, Progger (an offshoot of Snarky Puppy), Brownout, and Summit Recording artists Jazzbonez. Paul and his horn section joined Austin’s own Gary Clark Jr. at the 2019 Austin City Limits festival this fall. 

     An adjunct professor, clinician, and lecturer of Jazz Trombone at The University of Texas at Austin and Texas State University, Paul also holds a Master’s degree in Studio Music and Jazz from the Frost School of Music in Miami, Florida.  Paul Deemer has toured in over 7 different countries and recorded on over 50 albums and can be seen performing in the Austin area with his bands Dreemr and the Paul Deemer Quintet. 

Some of Paul’s career highlights include performing in the horn sections for gary Clark Jr., Calexico, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Jackie Venson, Robert “Sput” Searight’s (Snarky Puppy) the Sput and Nate show, the Walkmen during FFFun Fest, and in the Grooveline Horn section for The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band in Shreveport, Louisiana and Austin, Texas. In 2016, he was featured as the guest artist and clinician with the University of Arizona Concert Jazz Band for the Arizona Jazz Festival. Paul was a featured performer at the 2015 TMEA convention in San Antonio and was also in a showcase at the American Trombone Workshop the same year. In 2014, he had the honor of conducting one of the Region 26 jazz bands in Austin and gave a masterclass at the renowned Booker T. Washington High School of Performing Arts in Dallas.

Paul teaches and gives clinics throughout the state of Texas and runs a Jazz Concert Series in Austin, Texas, where his band is regularly featured. He is endorsed by Rath trombones and Warburton mouthpieces. You can find him performing with his own group at the Elephant Room and Eberly in Austin, Texas.
